Richard Fisher, III

Richard Fisher was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where he was first introduced to riding at Bergen Beach Riding Academy in the Mill Basin area by a friend.  At the time he was 13 years old and this one ride sparked a passion for riding. While in Brooklyn Richie showed in Barrel Racing and gymkhana games which he participated in for about 10 years.

Richie moved from Brooklyn to Long Island and had no intentions of being a horse trainer but at different times friends would ask if he could ride their horse to give them exercise while they were on vacation.  Upon their return they would comment on how well their horse was working and ask him to continue with his program.  Word soon spread and before long a friend asked if he would train his two year old, which he agreed to and this was the first time anyone had offered him money to train their horse and this is when he began to train barrel and reining horses.  Richie was amazed that someone would actually pay him for his hobby, he has been training for the past 35 years (and very happily).

Richie has had plenty of success in the show pen with numerous bronze trophy winnings, placing at large Futurity shows and top ten placing in World standings.  As well as being a competitor, Richie also holds an NRHA (National Reining Horse Association) judging card.  As a clinician he has had the opportunity to travel to Europe and throughout the North-Eastern United States giving a series of his very trouble-shooting style clinics.  His easy techniques and common sense thinking make these clinics fun and knowledgeable for riders and spectators.

Pal-O-Mine holds a special place in Richie’s heart because of the students and the staff which he has come to know due to giving clinics and judging shows.

Richie currently resides in Sayre, Pennsylvania where he owns and operates Fisher Equestrian Center, an  80 acre farm which consists of indoor and outdoor arenas and 22 stalls
